GEORGIAN SASH WINDOW RESTORATION
EXPERTLY RESTORING TIMELESS GEORGIAN SASH WINDOWS TO THEIR ORIGINAL GLORY

Georgian sash windows were built to stand the test of time — often crafted from high-quality Pitch Pine, a dense and durable timber. At PJPS, we specialise in restoring these beautifully proportioned windows, preserving their architectural significance while enhancing their function for modern living.

Whether your aim is to retain the original glass or to upgrade to new double-glazed sashes within the existing frames, our restoration process is tailored to deliver timeless results with minimal disruption.

WHAT’S INVOLVED IN A GEORGIAN SASH WINDOW OVERHAUL

 ✔️ Careful Removal
Staff bead and parting bead are scored and removed, followed by the sashes and existing cords and weights.

 ✔️ Thorough Inspection
Frames are examined for rot or damage and professionally repaired using timber splices or specialist fillers.

 ✔️ Timber & Sash Restoration
Both sashes are carefully restored, with loose joints tightened and pulleys serviced for smooth operation.

 ✔️ Glass & Putty Refresh
Loose or damaged putty is replaced, and historic glass is preserved where possible and cleaned to the putty line.

 ✔️ Discreet Draught Proofing
Meeting rails are subtly adjusted, and new staff and parting beads are fitted with concealed brush seals.

 ✔️ Rehanging & Ironmongery
Sashes are re-hung with new cords and weights. Traditional brass ironmongery is fitted as standard (other finishes on request).

 ✔️ Final Checks
All seals are tested, and the window is checked for smooth function and proper draught-proofing.
